Happy Mother’s Day : mother or not!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the living moms and step-moms. May your children honor you by granting your special wishes for the day that you truly desire.

Let go of pleasing others, your children, spouses etc. Others are here to please you, so make the most of the day that celebrates you. Choose the restaurant that makes your taste buds sing, visit a place of your wishes, be as active or inactive as you choose.

My mom died over seven years ago. Even before then since I live 12,000 miles away, I haven’t spent Mother’s Day with her for many years.

For many of us, the devoted Mother’s Day can be bitter-sweet. If you’re not celebrating Mother’s Day for ANY reason, and I know that you have good reasons, I invite you to honor the mother inside you.

Happy Mother’s Day to the unacknowledged mother inside you who’s been around all of your life.

Happy Mother's Day

Be a loving mother to your inner child.

Access & Honor the mother inside you.

Hey, even the best moms whether dead or alive made mistakes that affected us as children. They said things or made some choices that they would’ve liked to have taken back. Whether you like it or not, your mom’s parenting is still affecting your inner child today.

At some point today, it’s your turn to be the mother you would always have desired for yourself. We all had imperfect mothers! The goal is to create an imagined good, loving mommy inside you who can be kind to your inner child.

Stop judging and be loving.

Since Mother’s Day is really like any other day, there’s bound to be a time when you pull yourself up short either through your words, actions or even body language. If you are spending the day with your family, then notice how your buttons are being pushed. You may also be pushing their buttons and so the “trigger dance” begins. Instead of being self-punitive or judgmental, nourish yourself by accessing the LOVING MOTHER INSIDE YOU.

How do you access the loving mother inside you?

Imagine her as a supportive coach, an exceptionally loving and doting grandparent, a great friend or any combination of loving people you know. Be kind, loving and compassionate to yourself today. You never know. You may discover a way to be kind and loving to yourself every day.

P.S. Anna Jarvis campaigned in 1905 to make Mother’s Day an official holiday in the America. In America, thankfully, 1914 saw Mother’s Day as an official holiday.
