How can you organize your mornings so you are less stressed out and it’s NOT a mad scramble to leave your house?
I have always been a morning exerciser, since I was 12 years old. As my schedule changed over the years, I have learned to adjust my timing so I could get out of the house sanely.
Some of the things that I find useful to reduce stress before leaving home and remain sane include:
- Get up within 5 minutes of the alarm going off. Setting snooze isn’t a restful way of starting the day.
- Decide on and set out your clothes the night before.
- Make sure to check your next day morning calendar the night before. When I have made assumptions, I have made some embarrassing mistakes.
- Set up an automatic coffee maker, if caffeine is your thing.
- Keep your briefcase, bag, phone, keys, and things that you need to take in the same place. By the door is a useful location. Becoming a creature of habit regarding the stuff you need to take each day is extremely helpful and way less stressful.
- Don’t surf the net, or check email within 5 minutes of leaving your home!
- Aim for leaving 10 minutes earlier, so you have more than enough time to reach your destination.
