In your heart of hearts, do you agree that wealth people feel entitled? Take a minute or so and reflect on why you agree or disagree.

How may your answer inhibit you from being wealthy?

Do wealthy people feel entitled?

Do wealthy people feel entitled?

We want to believe our stories that show wealthy people are dismissive of others who are not at the same level or the opposite view where wealthy people are giving, humble and even handed.

Where did our stories or anecdotes come from? We think that we’re basing our answers on adult interactions, observations, or in depth reading about wealthy people. Instead, our answers reveal tons about our own relationship with money and finances. Our beliefs about money and wealth, have more to do with how money was handled or mishandled in our childhood.

If you believe that wealthy people feel entitled, then it follows that behaviors include:

  • Treating others differently who are not in the same club
  • Being manipulative and taking advantage of others for personal gain
  • Imposing unrealistic expectations on others
  • Taking more than giving
  • Craving admiration

Eek. That list sucks! Many of us dream about being wealthy, and desire more money for many reasons. We might like more clients, more profits, a bigger salary etc. If we view wealthy people as entitled, then how are we stopping ourselves from having and keeping more money, if having money is synonymous with being entitled.

We bury our true feelings and thoughts about money.

Often, we can’t even access our true feelings and thoughts about money, because we bury them in our unconscious. For example, just because a wealthy uncle was stingy and outlandish, doesn’t mean that all wealthy people are like this. Just because parents may have always looked for bargains and bought things on sale, doesn’t mean cost is at the top of our list when we make a decision.

Now it’s your turn to let some of the money stories from your childhood begin to percolate. Hopefully you’ll find some positive stories along with negative influences. Hey, you never know what money is ready to come your way, simply by uncovering and releasing a negative money belief.

Get to know your money story and then your relationship with wealth can flow.
