Happy Mother’s day, is today’s greeting.

On Mother’s Day, our goal is to love and honor our mom. Mom’s awaken to the pattering of little feet bringing her coffee in bed.

Children make mom’s favorite breakfast. Older children drop by to share lunch at a favorite picnic spot or restaurant.

Mmm. How do we celebrate our mother’s in a pandemic? Instead of focusing on what we don’t have, here’s a better question.

LOVE!!!!! How do we spread the love?

I’m wondering how can you honor your mother? That applies even if your mom’s dead, or if you don’t have a great relationship with your mom.

Whose mom can you call today and wish them a Happy Mother’s Day?

Which friend can you text and tell them to have a gentle day over a zoom call with their mom?

What health care worker can you text or email and say that you’re thinking of them?

I happened to hear Governor Cuomo, the Governor of NY in his press conference this afternoon, mention love as a needed part of our communal healing. We know that Cuomo is the tough guy. So, I did a double take when I heard him talking about love.

After he gave coronavirus updates, he started speaking about love. He said that the other side of being tough is love. He spoke about how much he loves and respects his mother, who he cannot currently visit. We saw his mom, and daughters all sending love to each other on virtual screens.

Right now, reach into your heart and feel love. We don’t have to be in someone’s physical presence to send or receive love. Imagine that you’re deeply feeling love for someone and imagine that they’re receiving your love. The very act of loving can shift our mood. And our world needs way more of it.

Remember to give yourself a hug and love the child within you. We all have an inner child, and she or he needs you to be a loving mom.

Since our ideal mother is all love: Let’s consider renaming today LOVE DAY.
